Fabrication and optical characterization of nanostructured random media on planar substrates, silica spheres(nanoshells) and on photonic crystals. Basic physics mechanism related to the optical response of these random media and their impact on the non-linear optical response will be investigated. Utilizing these optical properties to engineer products for potential applications will be studied.
